Project Category: Alterations to existing home
This design and build alteration project in Dunedin involved
meeting a number of the clients requests and requirements,
including building a master bedroom and disabled ensuite on the top
floor of the home, a walk-in wardrobe, incorporating disabled
access, adding a lift in, a new kitchen design, a disabled bathroom
including walk-in showers, a reasonable fire escape on the top
floor being incorporated into the design and a terrace on the top
floor.
We took care of the entire project, from building consent right
through to building compliance. This house was a typical 1970's
brick bungalow, so all the foundations had to be checked and tested
and the whole house was also re-plastered, which instantly made it
more modern and looked like new. Our team worked on the driveway
and made a car-parking area, retaining walls, upgraded the windows,
completed the interior joinery including the kitchen, bathrooms,
doors, stairs and windows, and we sourced all the appliances, the
subcontractors, and the fittings to match the clients brief.
All the work was completed under full scaffold, and there
were a number of obstacles to overcome during this project,
including difficulty with access to the property, height
restrictions, design constraints and storage problems to name a
few. However, these issues were all overcome and the project was a
success with all the clients' requests and requirements being
met.
