Project #2: Kaikorai Valley Gymnasium- Light Commercial Work

Completion Date: Mid 2008

The major objectives of this light commercial design and build project were simplicity, functionality and for minimal maintenance work to be required, as well as integration of the new gym facility with the existing hall and student and office areas. As the project managers and contractors for this build, our team was given a budget and scope of the project, and were told that ventilation and light were crucial aspects.

This gym is fully insulated and heated by an innovative and efficient oil-powered heating system, and features a ceiling panelled with noise control panels. The end result was a well-insulated, efficient, functional, and sound proof gymnasium, with a full-sized court with room for viewing stands on the sides of the court and at each end, delivered to the client on time and on budget, and is a prime example of excellent communication between the client and our team and an innovative "green" building.

Project #3: Commercial Project- Small Industrial Warehouse

Completion Date:

This project is unique in both its construction and in the approach that the client took towards the build. This industrial warehouse was initially an older building that was demolished, and in order to save money, part of the old structure was gutted so the existing foundations, external walls and structural beams were kept and our team started with a new concrete slab and built a new structure and roof.

This building, which is fully insulated and lined above the current code of insulation at the clients request, includes offices, a kitchen and toilet facilities, double glazed commercial windows, and is now a heat efficient, dry building which is therefore cheaper to run. The aim of this project was not innovation or design, but rather to find a cost effective solution for the client, and through using an old, run down building that needed work the end result was a nicer, newer, more modern and convenient building.
